Kate Mason Rowland's Efforts and Biases

Below are selected examples that display the Lost Cause effort that Rowland subscribed to and tried to further by using George Mason and early American history as a vessel for justification and reasoning. She uses the words of Founding Fathers such as Thomas Jefferson to paint them in a negative light. Furthermore, she goes far enough to praise the South and the men and women of the 1860s. However, not everyone agreed with her ideas and interpretation of historical events.
