The Original Mount Vernon Memorial to Enslaved People

Dublin Core

Title

The Original Mount Vernon Memorial to Enslaved People

Description

This marker was constructed in 1929 by the Mount Vernon Ladies Association to remember the enslaved people of Mount Vernon. Despite it being one of the first markers to enslaved people on a plantation, the marker was ignored for decades until a new memorial was constructed in the 80's.
