Description
Mason rose on July 6 1848 to speak in opposition to a bill that would authorize the formation of a territorial government for the Oregon Territory, the inhabitants of which had made clear their intentions to ban slavery from the territory. Mason cites Constitutional provisions to argue against the legality of such provisions being formed by the inhabitants of the Oregon territory.
